Properties and applications of Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

Pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is a kind of adhesive that is sensitive to pressure and can be pasted without heating or solvent activation, as long as the contact pressure is slightly applied. Often made of pressure sensitive adhesive tape and adhesive sheet, convenient construction, easy to stick, not difficult to remove, peeling without damage, people commonly used medical adhesive paste and insulation tape is the earliest, the most typical pressure sensitive adhesive products.

pressure sensitive acrylate adhesive

Pressure sensitive adhesive generally has rubber type and synthetic resin two categories, acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive belongs to synthetic resin type. Because of its many advantages, it is in a leading position among pressure sensitive adhesives, and acrylate pressure sensitive adhesives are the most productive ones among acrylate adhesives.
Properties of pressure sensitive adhesives

Acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive is colorless transparent slime. The main difference between it and rubber pressure sensitive adhesive is that it can not add adhesive resin and plasticizer and other components. Its main characteristics are as follows:

(1) Mild pressure or acupressure can achieve effective adhesion.

(2) with oxidation resistance, oil resistance, solvent resistance and other excellent performance; All kinds of materials have a certain adhesive relay; Even difficult materials will stick together.

(3) Good transparency; It has high peeling strength and can withstand shock and vibration.

(4) non-toxic and harmless, no impact on the skin, medical adhesive tape can be prepared.

(5) Various functional groups can be introduced through copolymerization, so that the adhesive force and the cohesion of the glue itself are larger.

(6) The initial adhesion and wettability is not as good as rubber pressure sensitive adhesive. Most of the heat resistance, solvent resistance, durability is poor.

Application of pressure sensitive adhesive

Acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive has been widely used because of its good durability and appearance. Solution acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive is mainly used for making pressure sensitive film with plastic film as the back material, pressure sensitive tape, double-sided pressure sensitive tape and foam material pressure sensitive adhesive processing products, can also be directly coated adhesive paste.

Used for all kinds of plastic film and metal foil paste, metal and non-metal material paste, metal or plastic nameplate paste, label paste, etc. Solution pressure sensitive adhesive contains organic solvents, so it should be stored in a closed container, and pay attention to fire prevention.

pressure sensitive adhesive

The emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive is mainly used to make labels and pressure sensitive film, pressure sensitive adhesive tape, decals and other products with paper as the back material. Compared with solution type pressure sensitive adhesive, it has poor water resistance, moisture resistance, heat resistance, poor wettability of plastic film and other shortcomings. In recent years, a lot of research and development work has been done abroad, such as the use of new monomer copolymerization; Seed emulsion polymerization method was adopted.

The wettability of pressure sensitive adhesive to non-polar substrate and adhesion to difficult material were improved by using adhesive resin emulsion. Using reactive emulsifier or soap-free emulsion polymerization;

Improve the solid content (up to 60%~70%), speed up the drying speed, so that the performance of acrylic emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive has basically caught up with the solution type pressure sensitive adhesive, the product field has been expanded from paper base products to directional stretching polypropylene packaging tape, a variety of difficult to stick polyene substrate products and peeling labels, etc. It is estimated that this kind of pressure sensitive adhesive will have a great development in the next few years.
