Principle of adhesives
The production principle of adhesives is mainly to prepare viscous solutions, emulsions, or suspensions by chemical or physical methods, and then form viscous solids through curing, drying, and other processes.
For example, universal adhesives that are common in daily life are bonded by chemical reactions. When we apply an adhesive to two objects, these adhesive molecules react with molecules on the surface of the object to stick the two objects together. This reaction can be cross-linking, that is, the functional group of one molecule combines with the functional group of another molecule to form a network of three-dimensional structure, so that the fluidity between molecules is lost and permanent bonding is achieved.
In addition, some adhesives are bonded by swelling, that is, after the adhesive molecule penetrates the surface of the adhesive, the two objects are bonded together by physical adsorption. This adsorption can be physical adsorption or chemisorption.
In short, the production principle of adhesives can be chemical reaction or physical adsorption, different adhesive production principles are different and need to be selected and designed according to the specific application scenario.
